What is ADHD and ADHD COACHING?

What exactly is ADHD?

(and is it even a real thing?)

YES, ADHD is a real thing!

Granted, ADHD is often misunderstood... and why wouldn't it be with a label like "Attention Deficit, Hyperactive Disorder"? Beyond the label, however, ADHD is described as "unique brain wiring which requires engaged interest with a clear, purposeful intention in order to activate and access attention so an individual can manage the brain’s executive functioning."

ADHD impacts the whole-health of a person; school and work, family and friends, self-care practices, and perhaps most importantly, the relationship we have with ourselves.

ADHD can make it hard(er) to:

  • Stick to a routine
  • Remember important things
  • Stay on point
  • Resist acting on impulses
  • Handle criticism, judgment, failure, or tolerate upset
  • Intentionally choose what to prioritize or pay attention to
  • Cope with the pain of boredom
  • Be emotionally resilient

Despite the rather daunting list above, however, having ADHD or executive functioning challenges doesn't mean you're "broken".
